I really enjoyed Amy Miles first romance book. Amy's passion is paranormal which personally I don't read so I thought I would give this a whirl. There is 0 sex, which I knew up front. What I will say is I enjoyed the story and it was a 3.5 star read for me. Since it is a trilogy, and the story was provocative enough I am interested in seeing where the story goes and what is in store for Ashlyn and Slade. It didn't hurt that Ashlyn is from St. Louis, my home town, and returns there at the end of the book. This is the story of a romance writer and her cover model-- The elements of the publishing industry and travel to book events seem spot on. It's a charming story that you would feel comfortable letting your teenage daughter read as well.Product details

Well, the cover of this book gives the impression it will be a hot and sexy story. It was a big let-down for me. Guess I am just into steamier stories.
I couldn't put this book down. I loved the character, Slade...but I'm such a sucker for bad boys with a heart of gold. It's a cute story. I also really liked Sophie....she would be awesome to have as a friend.
The author did an excellent job of creating a vivid story. Ashlyn and Slade actually feel like real people. The activity whirling around them is drawn realistically as well as the emotional development they painfully endure.
This is a great story about an author and a cover model. It gives you a feel of what it is like for a book release party. Ashley & Slade find that they are a lot alike. Just keep reading to find out the truth about Ashley.
I have read other books by Amy Miles and went ahead and gave this book a shot despite not thoroughly loving the genre. It was refreshing. I was happy to see there wasn't sex scene after sex scene built from stilted characters and a neglected plot. I found the plot twist adorable and like the characters on a whole although occasionally Tamsin irritated me. I look forward to reading the next installment to see where the story goes and watch the characters grow as people and in their relationships. I also recommend following the author on Facebook because she is very interactive with her readers and her book release parties are always entertaining.
This was a fun read. I loved how this gave you kind of a backstage pass into the behind the scenes of the book signing world. Slade is definitely a ladies man in the beginning and pushes Ash out of her comfort zone. The slow building relationship between them was a nice change of pace from all the insta-romance you get nowadays. Ashlyn was easily relatable for me and I just loved her. Tamsin and Sophie were great supporting characters. Though this was very different from the books we are used to from Amy Miles, she does not disappoint.
Escape into this new delight! Grab a drink and a treat because you'll be gone for a while. All the flavorful personality you could ask for is delivered to you in black and white. Beauty, lust and betrayal and something unforseen. I've read all of Amy Miles books and her newest book Captivate doesn't disappoint! As always, Amy's characters come across as real as your own friends. Slade is offered a ticket into the world he has always wanted to be apart of. A way to promote his ruggedly handsome self to modeling agencies. But what or who does he really want? Will he survive the huge stumble he takes during his trip to fame? Ashlyn or Tamsin? Which one will he catch or will they catch him? They are people that you will grow attatched to as they wiggle their way into your heart. Captivated.....
